A public service announcement brought to you by tonight’s run.
I had a really great 8 mile run tonight. Plenty of hills, no walking. I did spend a lot of time dodging rush hour traffic and carefully crossing busy streets. Not fun.
On one particular street, not a busy street, but a wide side road, one driver got my attention. How? By his inattention.
I was about 6.5 miles into my run at this point when I looked up and saw a red car coming towards me. Literally.
I quickly jumped from the curb/gutter of the road (no sidewalk) to the grass and watched as a young guy, with one hand on the wheel, the other typing a text on his phone in front of his face, unknowingly veered his little sports car across the place I stood just moments ago.
Seriously.
He was oblivious. I was mad.
I’d like to think my life is more important than that text to his buddy/girlfriend/whomever.
I think my husband and two kids would agree.
Put the phone down. It can wait.
